My Interview with Author Kristine Raymond
First I want to say thank you so much for answering a few questions for me today! I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule!
Thanks for having me!
1. How did you come up with the idea for Here to Stay?
1. How did you come up with the idea for Here to Stay?
a) I
have always liked westerns and I wanted to write a love story that took place in
a time when things were wild and not quite civilized. I really liked the Wagons
West series by Dana Fuller Ross and those stories helped form my idea for this
book.
2. Are any of the characters based on someone you know?a) No, the characters are completely made up.
3. Does the next book in the Hidden Springs Series have a title
yet?
If so, do you mind telling me what it is?!!
a) The next book in the Hidden Springs
series is called 'Hearts on Fire'. It will be released on December 26th.
4. How many books do you have planned for the Hidden Springs
series?
a) Right now I am planning on eight books in the series. We'll have to
see what happens..
5. How did you come up with the title
Here to Stay?a) I was trying to think of something catchy. When I decided to write about my main character leaving and then coming back, I thought about how she could convince her love interest that she wasn't going to leave again. She tells him she's "here to stay".
6. What inspired you to write your first
book?
a) I've had the ideas for books in my
head for over twenty years. A few months ago, a friend of mine published her
first book and I thought to myself, "what am I waiting for? I need to just do
it."
7. Why did you decide to self publish?
a) I liked the idea of self-publishing
because I could get my book out there the way I wanted it to be. There are so
many avenues today to sell your books yourself. I think it's great!
8. What do you enjoy most about
writing?
a) I enjoy telling my story. It comes
alive when I put it down on paper; it is almost like my characters are real
people.
9. What do you find most challenging
about writing?
a) There are a lot of challenges. Each
day it is something new. When I first sat down to write, it was hard for me
because I am really obsessive about being accurate with my facts, so I spent a
lot of time researching different things. I had to finally let go and just
write, and not worry so much about it being perfect the first time through.
10. Do you see writing as a career or a
hobby?
a) I would love for writing to be my
career. I always used to tell people that I didn't know what I wanted to be
when I grew up. Now I know...I want to be an author!
11. What books have influenced your life
the most?
a) I can't think of any specific books
that have influenced my life. I think all books do in a way. I have read books
as far back as I can remember. I just like a really good story; one that
entertains me and makes me feel glad that I read it.
12. If you had to choose, which writer
would you consider a mentor?
a) Laramie Briscoe. She has helped me
so much. It was because of her that I decided to give this a try. She has
taught me all the ins and outs of publishing, she has encouraged and supported
me. I can honestly say that I would not have published my book if it hadn't
been for her.
13. What is the last book you read?
a) Majestic Pearls by Katija O. She
hasn't published it yet but she was kind enough to send me a preview.
14. What is your favorite place to sit
and write?
a) I like to sit outside, under the oak tree when the weather is nice and write but most of the time, I am sitting at my computer, typing away.

15. What do you enjoy doing when you
aren’t writing or reading?
a) I like to make jewelry, crochet, and
do other crafty things.
16. What is your favorite vacation
spot?
a) I have never been on a vacation, as
an adult.
17. What is your favorite food?
a) Mushroom pizza
Thanks again, Angelle, this has been
fun!
